形态丛林系列 FOREST OF FORMS

我们走过的路被躯体忠实地记录，而艺术家手中诞生的作品可以类比人类的身体。人的身躯是往日时光的载体，而艺术作品则是创作过程的载体。作品的制作过程被记录下来，反映在作品的形式、结构和构造方式中。岁月留痕，不仅仅藏在美人的皱纹里；时光的踪影还在 Lynn 的作品中悄然绽放。

The personal experience was recorded by the individual body. If compare the human body to still life, just like the work made by the artist. The human body is the carrier of the past, while the artwork is the vessel of the creative process. The production process of the work is reflected in the form, structure and construction of the work. The traces of time are not only hidden in the wrinkles of beauties, they are also quietly blooming in Lynn’s works.

陶溪川·景德镇国际工作室本期邀请到美国阿巴拉契亚州立大学艺术荣誉教授 Lynn Duryea，于2021年10月20日，周三晚8点，在“陶溪川国际教育—国际云讲座”平台带来主题为《在现实的边界安静地建造》的讲座。

Taoxichuan·Jingdezhen International Studio is very honoured to invite Lynn Duryea, Professor Emerita of Art, Appalachian State University, Boone NC. The title of this lecture is “SLAB STRUCTURES”. The lecture will be held on Wednesday at 20:00(UTC+8), October 20th, at Taoxichuan International Education Program—Master Online Lecture.

讲座将讨论 Lynn 自2000年开始研究生学习以来的创作理念发展，涵盖的主题将包括对视觉参考和材料来源的讨论，以及对作品形式和构造方法的思考。

The lecture will discuss the conceptual development of Lynn’s work since 2000 when she was engaged in graduate studies. Topics covered will include visual references and source materials, consideration of form and methods of construction.

Lynn 的国际大师班视频课程——《层层雕琢：泥板成型的入门与提高》已经上线陶溪川国际教育平台。她在课程中详细展示了泥板成型的创作过程，并分享低温电窑烧制和丰富表面层次的创作技法。

Lynn’s Online Masterclass, “Sculptural Slab Structures” has been launched on the Taoxichuan International Education Platform. In the course, she showed the constructions processes in detail, also shared the techniques of low-temperature electric kiln firing and enriching finishing.

Lynn 不仅是德高望重的荣誉教授，而且是一名有着丰富工作室实践经验的艺术家。在获得佛罗里达大学的美术硕士学位之前，她是缅因州的一名工作室艺术家。

Lynn is not only a respected professor, but also an artist with great studio experience. Lynn Duryea was a studio artist working in Maine before earning a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Florida. 

嵌入，横构与竖构 INSERTS, WIDE & DEEP

她的作品颜色悦目，形态简洁却不简单，流露出天真兼具庄重的气质。要知道可塑性强是粘土的特点，可正因为这样，制作和烧成极易发生形变。通过给形态做减法——Lynn 以抽象的方式创作。她的创作参考了不同结构、建筑和机械。作品最终呈现出的是无疑是对事物原本功能性的一种隐喻且具有神秘感的指向。

The colors of her works are pleasing to the eye, and the shapes are concise instead of simple, revealing both innocence and solemnity. It should be clear that strong plasticity is the characteristic of clay. However, because of this feature, clay is easy to deform during creating and firing. Through reductive shape and form, her reference is to the structural, architectural and mechanical, a representation of function in an allusive and enigmatic sense.

形态丛林 A FOREST OF FORMS

这些作品在视觉上，有着令人不容忽视的存在感，反而流露出纯粹永恒的气质。这些几何形态柔和的边角则处处透着精致与微妙。我们可以把它看作一种邀请，邀请我们去思考在直白中可能存在的复杂与多元。

These objects of insistent profile suggest simplicity and stillness, where subtlety and nuance are investigated through forms of softened geometry. There is an invitation to contemplate the complexity and richness that can exist in the apparently straightforward.

进一步思索，我们会发现Lynn 作品所蕴含的历史感。作品上叠加和侵蚀的痕迹是时间带来的转变。表面处理过程中，材料层层叠加又被不断打磨抛光。因此，作品的表面也暗示着时间的变化。

Closer consideration reveals a sense of history, traces of transformation that generate narratives of accretion and deterioration. Ceramic surfaces are generated by means of building up and wearing away, layering and removal of materials that implied processes occurring over time. 

在艺术创作的殿堂里，Lynn以纯熟的技法以及独特的思考，呈现一个优雅微妙的世界。

Lynn presents an elegant and subtle world with her proficient techniques and unique concepts.
