Lampwork glass art appeared as early as BC, when it was mostly used to make glass beads, bucket beads and other ornaments. Its different colors and shapes represent the hierarchy and status of different classes in the feudal system. In the Qing Dynasty, the materials and landscape craftsmanship of Boshan Mountain in Shandong were popular among the royal nobles, creating a pot of wonderland on earth, which became an important part of interior decoration at that time.

Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka

Lampworking can blend subtle changes and gorgeous colors into the glass, reflecting the unique charm of glass art. The European father and son Leopold and Rudolf Blaschka used this character to produce a large number of lifelike crafts, which is breathtaking.

At present, what kind of glorious glass art forms can be created by combining this ancient craft with different contexts? And what kind of story can be woven into using the technique of lampwork glass?

Li Yao is very good at using the characteristics of glass material to express delicate emotions: for example, the crystal clearness of glass represents purity and flawlessness, and the relationship of trust and dependence between people; and the transparent texture of glass symbolizes the invisible medium, which is dispelled, expressing an emotion of silent protection.

She implanted rich emotions into transparent glass works, expressing the intangible with concrete images, making them tangible and visible, and memorable, making the viewers feel the emotions of  the works  strongly, and immerse in the fairy tales of "woven" glass

I always maintain a sense of freshness for glass materials. I am sensual, and so is glass. This can satisfy my expression of creative themes. I like the unpredictable beauty brought by glass. It is hot, the temperature can be as high as 1300 degrees Celsius; it is soft and can satisfy any wild imagination; it is honest, and it will shatter those unrealistic dreams.
