被誉为“学生界的诺贝尔奖”霍特奖（Hult Prize）现已开启线上报名，此次挑战赛回归到人类社会的根源—食物，以Food for Good（将食物转变为变革的载体）为主题，要求参赛团队构思并创建可持续发展的食品企业，在未来十年内创造就业机会、刺激经济、重塑供应链并改善1000万人的生活。获胜团队将得到100万美金的种子基金，并获得来自国际商界的指导。

12月9日（周三）晚6点，设计学院将在学生二期宿舍16栋树礼书院103活动室以设计思维的方式举办一次霍特奖头脑风暴工作坊。院长Thomas Kvan教授将结合此次挑战赛的主题，通过设计思维以人为本的思维模式和技能方法，帮助同学们在设计思维的实践中激发碰撞出新的观点和想法，构思参赛的雏形方案。感兴趣的同学请提前准备好一个新颖的想法，构思团队组建方案，加入我们一起分享你的无限创意吧！

霍特奖挑战赛是霍特基金会与联合国合作举办的全球高校创新创业比赛，致力于激励全球大学生以挑战赛为契机，针对当今世界所面临的严峻问题，创建发挥善念和可盈利的商业模式，为联合国的“可持续发展目标”提供可行的解决办法。自2009年首次举办以来，霍特奖基金会已向社会创新领域注入了超过6千万美金，在全球超过121个国家的2千余所高校孵化运营创新项目，每年吸引超过30万名学生参与比赛。

历任墨尔本大学副校长（校园与国际发展）及建筑、设计与规划学院院长，悉尼大学建筑、设计与规划学院院长及香港大学建筑学院院长。任职墨尔本大学期间，负责筹建墨尔本设计学院研究生院并开展多个大型跨学科研究项目。于1999年获得英国开放大学建筑学博士学位，1982年分别获得美国加利福尼亚大学洛杉矶分校建筑学硕士学位及剑桥大学硕士学位，1978年取得剑桥大学学士学位。

Known as the “Nobel Prize for Students”, the Hult Prize 2021 Challenge is now accepting applications. The topic for this year’s challenge is Food for Good: transforming food into a vehicle for change, asking all contestants to build viable food enterprises that will create jobs, stimulate economies, reimagine supply chains, and improve outcomes for 10,000,000 people by 2030. The winning team will receive US$1 Million in Seed Capital and support from a global ecosystem of business leaders, mentors, investors, and corporate partners.

The final application deadline is December 18, 2020, at 11:59 pm EST (December 19, 2020, at 12:59 pm Beijing Time). Don’t miss the opportunity to compete!

In partnership with the United Nations, the Hult Prize is an annual, year-long competition that crowd-source entrepreneurial ideas from MBA and college students around the world by challenging them to solve a pressing social issue around topics such as food security, youth unemployment, and energy. Prof. Kvan is renowned for his work in computer applications in design. Previously, he held positions as Pro Vice Chancellor, Campus, and Global Development and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning at University of Melbourne, Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Design, and Planning at University of Sydney, and Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at University of Hong Kong. During his time at University of Melbourne, he established Melbourne School of Design and founded several multidisciplinary large research initiatives. He received his Ph.D. in design from Open University, a MArch from University of California, Los Angeles, an MA and a BA from Cambridge University.
