12月29日，南方科技大学创新创意设计学院将在第九届深港城市\建筑双城双年展分展场—坪山区大万世居，呈现由学生参与的声音交互作品《行步如影》，本次所展出的作品来自2022年秋季学期助理教授Marcel SAGESSER开设的DS345声音设计（Sound Design）。该项目提供了一个视角，与村庄穿流而过的河流遥相呼应，连接并转化为村庄外的生态系统。任何人都可以使用他们的手机（最好是随带耳机）在大万世居或其他地方进行声音漫步。

《行步如影》是一个声音行走项目，涵盖4组学生作品。以河流“回声”作为一个认识人类及生态系统之间关系的契机。此项目将带领观众踏入一段从客家历史到未来的旅程，去思考如何通过设计可感的经验来推动非物质文化遗产的可持续。

《声音设计》课程将带领学生们进入音速领域。作为一种一直存在于我们身边却经常被忽视的事物，学生们学习声音在当代媒体应用及其他领域中的情感、叙事、社会和信息潜力。这门课程的重点是将声音作为一种可塑的原材料，我们可以制作，可以设计，将声音作为一种体验设计的机会。学生将学习从零开始，运用声音合成法合成声音，发展关键的听力技能，分析声音和情感的词汇，并提高他们在未来的研究项目中构建听觉世界的技能。这些技能将帮助学生在他们作为设计师的生活中更有批判思维地设计无形的、社会性的体验。除了了解声学、声音生成、作曲和音频编辑的基本原理之外，本课程还会研究在数字媒体中的声音传递。学生将参与英语课堂讨论，将进行个人和小组活动，他们将自行选择开发、制作和提交大型交互式声音项目，这些项目将在下文中进行介绍。

Starting from Dec 29, The School of Design of SUSTech presents the interactive sound walks “Unwalking” by their students for the 2022 Shenzhen / Hong Kong Urbanism Architecture Bi-City Biennial Pingshan Sub Venue Dawan Unplugged. “Unwalking” offers a perspective that engages the echo of the river flowing by the village that connects and transforms into an ecological system beyond the village. The works on display are created by students from the course DS345 Sound Design, taught by Assistant Professor Marcel SAGESSER at The School of Design in the fall semester of 2022. The sound walks can be accessed by anyone using their mobile phone, ideally with headphones, on site at Dawan Shiju in Shenzhen, or anywhere else.

“Unwalking” is an sound walk that includes 4 works of students. It uses the echo of the river to sharpen our awareness of the relationship between humans and the ecological systems around them. The audio walk takes the audience on a journey from Hakka history to the future, thinking about what it means to sustain intangible heritage through a designed experience.

This course “Sound Design” takes the students on a journey into the realm of the sonic. As something that is quite always around us and yet often remains underinterrogated, students learn about the emotional, narrative, social, and informative potential that sound has in contemporary media applications. This course focuses on sound as a malleable, raw material that we can craft, and that we can craft with – that is, sound as an opportunity for experience design. Students learned to generate sound from scratch with sound synthesis. The gained skill will help students more critically design intangible, socially engaging experiences in their life as designers. Beyond understanding the basic principles of acoustics, sound generation, composition, and audio editing, the students in this course have completed large-scale interactive sound projects that are described in the following.
